“I don’t, dammit!” he spat.
Veronica stopped talking. She watched Milano’s emotions flashing on his face, and chuckled at his deceitful words. What a hypocrite he is! He talks one thing and does quite another. One day, I will prove to him that he was mistaken about his feelings. She thought of new ways to siege Milano’s empire—his dark inner world.
Soon, the order was served on their table—some creamy ice-cream sprinkled with almond and walnut crumbles. Not able to restrain herself from its lure, Veronica was the first to try the dainties, cutting off a piece with a tea-spoon and licking it flirtatiously. Milano narrowed his eyes, making her understand that she had entered a dangerous territory.
“Nike, I don’t get it. Do you seduce me on purpose?”
“Me?” Veronica blinked, feigning innocence. “Never in my life!”
Milano sniggered at Veronica’s imitation of him. Veronica took one more scoop from her portion, while Milano was still laughing in reply to her joke. Then he continued to taste the cool ice-cream from the glass dessert bowl.
After finishing, the couple relaxed in their chairs.
“Did you like the ice-cream?” Milano inquired with a special implication, piercing Veronica with his expression, as though he wanted to get into her mind at least for a minute.
“Yes, I did. It was cool and tender.” Veronica was still impressed by the dessert. “Let’s go home, darling.”
“We will. I just need to pay the bill first.”
“I feel embarrassed that you pay everywhere for me.” She felt uncomfortable, admitting that she was living under Milano’s expense.
“These are just trifles, my little star. If you ask, I could buy you a posh car,” Milano said, proudly.
“You don’t need to. I'm good without it.”
“As you wish, cara.”
After paying the bill, Milano walked up to her chair. He moved it backward with a polite gesture and reached out his hand to her. Veronica took it gladly, feeling how strong and warm his hand felt. Veronica’s body temperature rose quickly from the current of love coming into her.
“You are a real gentleman. I dream about you always behaving like this,” Veronica scolded Milano, watching his stride.
“What are you hinting at, my queen?” The demon cast a dangerous glimpse at his goddess, suspecting she was up to something vicious.
“Don’t pretend to be a fool.”
“Talking about all the sex?” he asked with a hem.
“Hush! Everybody is listening us.” Veronica blushed. She exited the cafΓ© slowly, and Milano followed her.
“They aren’t focused on us; they are looking at you,” Milano growled, opening the door for his goddess and giving her way. “While we were sitting in the cafΓ©, I saw all the men devouring you with their eyes. I am aware of that animalistic instinct. They desired you—every one of them!”
Veronica burst out chuckling when they were outside. She inhaled the air of Rome. “I’m not interested in what they hunger.”
“But I’m bothered by it! I won’t allow some shitty fellow to approach you. If he does, he would lose all his teeth. The jerk will be in for it! Have no doubts about this, Nike!”
“Holy Mother of Jesus! I never believed that I would hear such words from a gentleman,” Veronica mocked him. “You speak so vulgarly. You should be ashamed of yourself, Milano.”
“Well, I’m not! Let’s go!”

It took half an hour for them to get home due to the minor traffic jams in Rome. As soon as Veronica took off her high-heels because of her aching feet, Milano picked her up and carried her in his arms to the second floor. Veronica laughed at him, but he was serious, like never before.
Upon entering his bedroom, Milano closed the door behind him. He gazed at Veronica threateningly, as if he had put her under arrest. Was there no limit to his fantasy? What did he want from her?
Veronica immediately posed a question, “What’s this, Milano?”
“I saw you exchanging eye contact with the waiter. Even smiled at him!” Milano groused.
“So what? Stop acting like a child, Milano!”
“Like a child?! If that was the extent of your assertion as a woman, then you’ve wasted your time. That waiter sucker is not worthy of you!” He started to show Veronica his petulant and choleric temper again.
“Milano, get a hold of yourself. I wasn’t flirting with him even in my mind! If you don’t believe me, why the hell should I stay here?”
Milano’s constant suspicion put her on edge, making her wish to go outside and calm down. Otherwise, she would slap him on the face, if not, at least, give him a pack of punches. Veronica reached the door’s handle, but Milano stood in front of her like a tall structure that separated her from the outside world. How was it possible to move such an impenetrable wall?
“Don’t you understand that you shouldn't behave so frivolously?” Milano rubbed his palms from the wrath of emotions overwhelming him.
“I behave frivolously? And you don’t? What about your ex-girlfriends, Bianca and Teresa? How many of them have you got—a whole harem?”
“Stop it, cara. This talk won't lead us anywhere. Don’t change the subject.” Milano continued to stand his ground.
“Oh! So, you can be with any whore that you choose in the name of an old relationship, and I can’t even smile at someone who was nice to me?”
“I’ve caught you, Nike! You did flirt with him.”
Grasping her wrists tightly, Milano moved towards her.
“You’re hurting me! Let go!” Veronica shouted at him.
“You like to be under my supremacy, cara. You do,” Milano spoke with a smirk, holding her wrists with one hand. He took her refined chin with the other hand, as Veronica receded slowly. “Now, I’ll teach you that you shouldn’t make me angry!”
Milano came closer to Veronica and kissed her on the lips. Veronica mumbled something discontentedly, but then closed her surprised brown eyes slowly. This simply defies any explanation. Veronica thought when Milano kissed her again. My whole body melts when it comes in contact with him. I’m falling into an abyss.
“Nike…” Milano’s voice sounded as if it was coming from the bottom of the deepest well. “Let’s not quarrel, okay? Even when inside the womb, the baby shouldn’t listen to his parents arguing.”
“Milano, you were the first to start.” Veronica planned to tell Milano something else, but he, as usual, closed her mouth with a deeper kiss.
“Can you just be quiet, huh?” he croaked in an excited voice, grabbing her full buttocks and entwining her legs onto his torso. In three steps, he reached his bed and put his wild deer onto it. His bed immediately bent under the weight of their bodies which were overwhelmed with desire.
“As a real man, I keep my word,” Milano whispered, lowering her thighs from his back and caressing her breasts gently.
“Leave your tricks out of this, demon,” Veronica uttered in some alien voice full of animalistic desire.
